Dr.Radhika Rajasree S R

About

Dr. Radhika Rajashree S.R. , Professor and Head of the Department of Fish Processing Technology, is a Masters in Industrial Fisheries and holds a Ph.D. in Marine Sciences from the Cochin University of Science and Technology. Prior to her appointment in KUFOS she headed the Centre for Ocean Research at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, from 2006 to 2019. Her research interests are in the application of nano-technology in the utilization of marine bio-waste, isolation of marine bioactive compounds and their therapeutic applications. She has completed several research projects and has published over 70 peer reviewed articles in reputed national and international journals. Dr Radhika has organized more than 25 sponsored workshops and symposia, 26 in-house training programs and has filed five patents so far. Four students have completed Ph.D. under her supervision and she has mentored three UGC and DST-SERB Post-Doctoral Fellows. She has designed, developed and implemented a course on Skill Development in Fishery Food Products Technology, under the sponsorship of DBT-HRD and the Food Industrial Capacity and Skill Initiative of the Ministry of Skill Development, Govt. of India. She also served as Chief programme Coordinator for ‘DST-Fund for Improvement of Science & Technology Infrastructure’, Coordinator for Technology Business Incubator (Marine Bioresource Utilization), Coordinator of MoES Earth Science Technology Cell on Marine Biotechnology and Member Secretary of Institutional Biosafety Committee. She currently serves as Member, Planning Board, Tamil Nadu Dr J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University and Member, Board of Studies (Marine Sciences), University of Madras, and Member of DST-NCSTC National Children Science Congress Activity Group. She is a recipient of DST Women Scientist Award and IFS (Sweden) International Research Fellowship.
