The Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), in association with the College of Fisheries Panangad Alumni Association (COFPAA), is organizing the 2nd International Fisheries Congress & Expo 2027 from 6 to 8 January 2027 at the KUFOS campus, Panangad, Kochi, Kerala.
The three-day international event will bring together researchers, academicians, scientists, fisheries professionals, policymakers, entrepreneurs, students and other stakeholders to share knowledge, present research findings and explore the latest developments in fisheries, aquaculture and allied sectors.
The congress will feature expert lectures by eminent scholars, scientific sessions, panel discussions and poster presentations. The accompanying Fisheries Expo and Seafood Fair will showcase products, services and innovations while providing opportunities for networking, collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Scientific Themes
The congress will cover six major themes:
- 1. Redefining Aquaculture
- 2. Conservation of Aquatic Ecosystems and Biodiversity
- 3. Impact of Climate Change and Mitigation Measures
- 4. Smart Technologies in Post-Harvest of Fish and Shellfish
- 5. Market, Circular Economy and Fishery Livelihood
- 6. Sustainable Fisheries Governance and Policies
Scientific sessions will address emerging and important areas, including artificial intelligence and machine learning in aquaculture, fish genetics and biotechnology, aquaculture nutrition, fish health management, aquatic ecosystem assessment, sustainable fisheries, circular economy and fisheries-based livelihoods.
Call for Abstracts
Faculty members, scientists, research scholars and students are invited to submit abstracts presenting their original research for consideration under the relevant scientific themes and sessions.
Authors are requested to prepare and submit their abstracts in accordance with the prescribed guidelines on or before 15 November 2026.
The congress also offers students and research scholars an opportunity to showcase their research findings, with awards available to recognize outstanding research contributions.
Fisheries Expo and Seafood Fair
The Expo will provide a platform to showcase the latest products, technologies, services and innovations in fisheries and aquaculture. It will bring together research institutions, government departments, extension agencies, entrepreneurs, industry representatives, NGOs and other stakeholders to exchange ideas, establish professional connections and explore collaborative opportunities.
The Seafood Fair will highlight seafood products, regional culinary traditions, sustainable practices and opportunities for supporting local fishers and seafood enterprises.
