About

Dr. Shijo Joseph has more than fifteen years experience in remote sensing, GIS, climate change, and tropical land cover dynamics. He worked as a Senior Scientist in Kerala Forest Research Institute before moving to KUFOS. He authored more than 50 research articles in international and national journals, and holds editorial positions in PlosOne, and Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability. He is an Expert Member of the Technical Task Force on National Green House Gas Accounting of the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and participated several meetings of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Dr. Joseph was trained in the premier institutes in India and abroad. This includes Mahatma Gandhi University at Kottayam; Center for Earth Science Studies at Trivandrum; Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun; National Remote Sensing Center, Hyderabad; ATREE, Bangalore; and institutes in Indonesia, UK, Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands. He had received prestigious scholarships from European Union as well as from Cambridge University. He had traveled more than 30 countries and conducted carbon monitoring and climate change studies in South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
