National Service Scheme is a community service programme sponsored by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of Government of India, aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. NSS is a voluntary association of students working for a campus-community linkage. The NSS is a public service program launched in 1969, during the centenary birth year of Mahatma Gandhi. The role of students in NSS is as activists, enablers, leaders, catalytic agents or liaison with other likeminded wider communities.
Enrolment and Benefits
To enroll in the NSS, you should submit the enrolment form (downloadable form KUFOS website) during the month of September every year. Enrollment is free.
After completing the required hours of service, NSS volunteers receive a certificate and grace marks.
To be eligible for NSS certificate and grace mark from the university, a student volunteer must complete 240 hours of work and attend a special camp within two years of service.

NSS Unit in KUFOS
There are three active units running in our campus. Two of these NSS units are funded by the Government of India and the third one is a Self-Financing Unit. NSS Units are led by Program Officers. Continuous activities like Planting Tree Saplings on birthdays, UTS app Training in association with Southern Railway, Anti-drug awareness programs, Divyangjan friendly and elderly friendly programs are conducted throughout the year.
