Brief Description of NSS

National Service Scheme is a community service programme sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of students working for a campus-community linkage. The cardinal principle of the NSS programme is that it is organised by the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building. This scheme promotes national solidarity. It would be possible to awaken the downtrodden in our society through collective responsibilities and develop the confidence, to tackle their common problems with energy, enthusiasm and in a co-operative spirit, based on mutual aid and self-reliance. The role of students is as activists, enablers, catalytic agents or liaison with other likeminded wider communities.
